Mexican billionaire Alberto Bailleres transfers empire to son

Alberto Bailleres, the fourth wealthiest person in Mexico, has made way for his son as the principal of his business conglomerate Grupo Bal after more than five decades.

Businessman Bailleres (pictured), 89, stepped down as president from the group and its diversified companies with immediate effect during a board meeting in late April. He and his family are worth $9.6 billion, according to Forbes.

Rupert Murdoch, the second-gen head of media empires 21st Century Fox and News Corp, has stepped back as chief executive of the former so his son James can step into the spotlight.

The US media tycoon will remain chairman of both companies. James has been working as co-chief operating officer at the movie studio since last year.

His brother, Lachlan, who was last year appointed non-executive co-chairman of 21st Century Fox, will now be an executive co-chairman. He will move from Sydney to Los Angeles to take up the role.

Privately owned property company Grosvenor, has appointed Jeffrey Weingarten as the new chief executive of Grosvenor Fund Management, succeeding outgoing Stuart Beevor.

Privately owned property company Grosvenor, has appointed Jeffrey Weingarten as the new chief executive of Grosvenor Fund Management, succeeding outgoing Stuart Beevor.

Previously a consultant to the business, Weingarten (pictured) joined the company as non-executive chairman in September 2010. Between 1991 and 1995, he had served as the US chief investment officer at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Outgoing Stuart Beevor joined Grosvenor in 2002, and was involved in the formal establishment of the GFM in 2005.
